John Banville won the Man Booker prize for his novel The Sea but this is the first of his books that I have read. Enjoyable so far!

I read this book as part of a challenge on one of my GoodReads book clubs – it WAS a bit of a challenge, and my review will be posted later today so check back if you fancy reading it.

I’ve also heard mixed reviews on The Casual Vacancy. I’d like to hear your thoughts on it.
Just started reading it, going well so far!
Same here. Lots of mixed reviews (mostly negative, I guess) on The Casual Vacancy. I think a lot of it has to do with expectations based on HP, though.
I agree Susan, I understand she is famous for HP, but I don’t think people are giving her the chance to try something else!
I have heard varying opinions of The Casual Vacancy too. I guess I am not too excited to read it. I look forward to seeing what you think.
Just started it Susan, going good so far! x
I’ve been hearing a lot of good things about Casual Vacancy, too, and I’m a HP fan so I think I should read it. 🙂

WWW Wednesdays
I’ve just started reading it Andrea and am liking it so far! x
I haven’t read any of these, but I hope you’ll enjoy The Casual Vacancy 🙂 I still need to read it.
Thanks Aleksandra! x
Please let me know how The Casual Vacancy is. Like you, I’ve heard mixed opinions. I will probably read it at some point, just because it’s J.K. Rowling! But it will be weird seeing her writing something other than Harry Potter!
Thanks for stopping by my WWW!
I hated the Casual Vacancy. It is hard to believe that is the same author who wrote Harry Potter.
Sorry to hear you hated it, it is very different to Harry Potter, I think that’s what she was trying to do.
I’m interested in On a Chinese Screen. Looking forward to your review.
Thanks for visiting my blog 🙂
The Casual Vacancy is really good…but the characters are a bunch of jerkies so I had a hard time with it. I hope you enjoy it though, she really is an amazing author! 🙂
I think so too! Am enjoying it so far 🙂
The Casual Vacancy is in my TBR for long. Hope to read it soon. 🙂
Happy reading! 🙂
Thank you! Am enjoying it so far! 🙂
I have read Casual Vacancy and I liked it very much! It’s a little tough in the beginning but wait till you finish it 😉
Thank you, I’m enjoying it so far, there’s a lot of characters though! 🙂
I haven’t read any John Banville either, but just checked it out on Goodreads and wow, Ancient Light sounds really intense and amazing!
It is so intense! Really interesting story too.
